My Story

I’ve been a musician for as long as I can remember.  I grew up in a musical house- my dad plays the trumpet, and as I child I grew up around lessons in the basement, going to his gigs when they weren’t too late, and bothering the band rehearsals that occurred on select Saturday afternoons.  Rumor has it, I was singing his interval warm-ups before I could talk.  When I was six, I asked for a piano that went “plink plink” and officially started lessons when I was 8 on a white Wurlitzer spinet in my parents “good”  living room.  This was the room my mother wanted to keep “clean” and “neat”…which I eventually filled with a piano, a vibraphone, and all sorts of musical materials… “Can’t you play anything that’s small?” she would jokingly ask with a big smile. However, my request for a harp was denied. This was probably for the best.

Anyway, I grew up in a house that was saturated with music. We would sing all of the parts to West Side Story on the way to school, and if we couldn’t finish, we would pick right back up at the end of the day.  I thought this was normal behavior for all of my school friends… “what do you mean there was a band in your basement?” “What’s West Side Story?” “wait…your dad sings?” … you get the idea.

Since then, a lot has changed.  I’ve made mistakes, cried, laughed, fell down, got up…life took me on a ride and I grew up (for the most part). But what hasn’t changed is my insatiable love for performing and creating music.  I am so happy to have you with me on this great adventure and look forward to sharing my experiences and music with you along the way.
